About Dr Ye Chen

Dr Ye Chen is an ophthalmologist with sub-speciality interest in eyelid, lacrimal and orbital surgery (oculoplastics). He is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons.
Dr Ye Chen undertook his medical studies at the University of Melbourne with a Melbourne National Medicine Scholarship. His clinical studies and internship were completed at the St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne. Following his internship, he was awarded a Rhodes scholarship and obtained a DPhil in Medical Science at Oxford University, UK.
Dr Ye Chen trained in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. For his oculoplastics training, Dr Chen spent almost two years under the guidance of internationally renowned oculoplastic surgeons Professor Dinesh Selva, Dr. Garry Davis and Dr. James Muecke at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. During his oculoplastics training, Dr Chen obtained considerable experience in the treatment of:
Eyelid disorders (eg. droopy upper eyelids, droopy brows, lower eyelid malpositions, eyelid tumours)
Orbital disorders (eg. thyroid eye disease, orbital tumour, socket disorders)
Lacrimal disorders ('watery eyes', blocked tear duct)
Dr Ye Chen has special interests in endoscopic lacrimal surgery, thyroid eye disease and eyelid tumours. Dr Chen also performs surgery for cataracts, pterygium and chalazions.
In his spare time, Dr Chen enjoys spending time with his young family, hiking and watching sci-fi and foreign films (as well as Disney classics with his son).
Dr Ye Chen also holds public appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Western Health and Eastern Health.
